Hi there Help! Love, MOM tribe. I’m in the process of rebranding. The updated blog, Growing Somewhere: Faith, Family and Finances will be one that makes a positive difference in your faith, family and finances. Grow an extraordinary life! Do consider subscribing.

Amazon Prime Day generates massive sales – 12.9 billion dollars in 2023 according to Statista. That huge revenue stream attracts criminals, scammers looking to cheat you. In the previous blog entry I gave you 6 tips from experts to keep you safer online, check them out below:

1. Stick to Trusted Websites, Sellers and Apps

2. Consider Getting a Prepaid Credit Card Solely for Online Shopping

3. Beware of Phishing Scams by avoiding unsolicited emails, unfamiliar links or sites, and unbelievable deals

4. Use Strong Passwords and Enable Two-Factor Authentication

5. Pay Securely, Pay Privately

6. Be Wary of Unrealistic Deals

7. Don’t online shop on public Wi-Fi networks. Many may shop Prime Day 2024 from a vacation destination. You are well advised to take a little extra care to enjoy a secure Wi-Fi experience.

One way to secure your credit card information et cetera is to use a VPN. A virtual protection network, according to VPNoverview, “encrypts all of your internet traffic.”

They go on to say that, “Nobody will be able to see what you do online. If [a hacker] intercept(s) your traffic all they will see is a jumbled mess of characters.” VPNoverview recommends NordVPN (low cost) or Proton VPN (free).

8. Monitor Your Accounts: Say it with me review, report, recover.

Review Statements Regularly by keeping an eye on your bank statements and transaction history for any unauthorized charges.

Report Suspicious Activity: Immediately report any suspicious transactions or activities to Amazon and to your bank.

Recover funds (if possible): Fund recovery is not a guarantee but is much more likely depending on the original form of payment. You can begin to deal with any suspicious activity quicker if you are aware of it, report it and take all steps to recover your funds.

9. Skip Shops that Ask for More Information than is Necessary

The experts at VPNoverview say “the more data you hand over, the more attack opportunities you create for cybercriminals.” They go on to recommend that purchases are made from “shops that ask for a minimal amount of data.”

They add that, typically, you’ll only want to provide your name, shipping address, and payment information. Other information should be optional; and, optional information should be skipped.

Sooooo, if that shop seems suss, keep it movin’.

10. Stay Informed:

Follow Amazon’s Guidelines: Do familiarize yourself with Amazon’s policies and guidelines for shopping safely on their platform.

11. Use Amazon’s Customer Support:

Contact Amazon Directly: If you have any doubts or concerns about a purchase or seller, contact Amazon’s customer support for assistance.

12. Trust Your Instincts:

Remember, a little caution goes a long way in ensuring a secure and satisfying shopping experience.

By following these tips provided by technology experts, you will increase your chances of enjoying Amazon Prime Day 2024 to the fullest while safeguarding yourself against fraud. Happy shopping!
