NYC Housing Connect
This is the portal that brings apartment seekers and affordable housing together in New York City. Homelessness is a growing problem all over the United States post pandemic. Sadly, in expensive cities like N.Y., this is especially true.
According to the NYC Housing Connect website, after you have created your account by creating a username and password you will need to:
Complete Your Profile
Remember to update your profile each time your income or household information changes. Then you will,
Apply to Lotteries
Check often for new developments that fit your household. It may take several months for applications to be processed. You may apply to multiple lotteries at once.
Selection and Eligibility Confirmation
- Wait for selection: Applications can take several months to process. You can expect to hear about your application status within two to ten months after the deadline;
- Confirm eligibility: If selected, you’ll need to confirm your eligibility and provide documents to show you qualify for the apartment.
Sign a Lease
If you are matched to a specific unit, at this point you may sign a lease.
PLEASE NOTE – This is not a complete list of available apartments. To apply to any apartment for which you believe you qualify you must create an account and then log into the NYC Housing Connect portal to submit an application.
Convenient New York City Neighborhoods
There is certainly a certain beauty about living anywhere in NYC. All 5 boroughs of “the Big Apple” have their own aesthetic, amenities, attitude and authenticity. You canNOT fake being a New Yorker!
One more thing – you canNOT fake the peace of mind to be able to pay the rent!
When I first moved to Harlem, it was the hot, trendy spot. If you’re unfamiliar, HarIem runs from about 110th Street up to about 155th street in Manhattan. To be clear, this is not to say that we lived in the hot, trendy part of Harlem.
My daughter, who, previously, travelled at least an hour her entire school life, FINALLY had a walking commute when we moved. Making life a little easier for her was another reason we relocated: convenience for her, and the affordable rent for me. Win! Win!
While Harlem is still amazing you can’t get more vibrant or trendy in NYC right now than Hudson Yards and Long Island City.
Meanwhile, the Junction neighborhood in the larger Midwood section of Brooklyn is bursting with energy and vitality.
Finally, the Brownsville located property has the most robust combination of rent ranges from extremely low income/low income (ELLA) to 80% of area median income.
Can we talk about pricey? The rent in any of these buildings would likely be out of financial reach for many New Yorkers.
However the State, City and business collaborations making more affordable housing units both available and affordable is a game-changer for renters.
Make sure you link up to create an account on NY Housing Connect . This is the only way to apply to these or any other “hot” properties.
That’s right, NYC Housing Connect is the only way to view the complete listing of properties currently available.
Grow on and look for boxes so you can WIN!
