NYC Housing Connect #4 – Harlem, Inwood & Gowanus

According to the NY Times, as cited in an award-nominated documentary the odds of winning the apartment lottery through Housing Connect are 1 in 592. The odds are more in your favor if your income is higher because there are more units available for renters with higher income.

However, newly passed City of Yes housing changes are likely to soon expand legal and affordable rentals.

In the meantime keep applying to NYC Housing Connect.

Convenient New York City Neighborhoods

There is definitely a certain beauty about living anywhere in NYC. All 5 boroughs have their own aesthetic, amenities, attitude and authenticity. You canNOT fake being a New Yorker.

One more thing – you canNOT fake the peace of mind of being able to pay the rent for a New York City apartment.

When I first moved to Harlem, it was the hot, trendy spot in the city – having made a comeback it was attracting lots of people. I loved it! Super convenient to my job, shopping and my daughter’s school.

However, to be clear, this is not to say that we lived in the hot, trendy part of Harlem. I loved the security and peace of being able to pay the rent – every month.

Harlem was outside of my comfort zone but affordable rent was worth the stretch.

Deadlines: Approaching Fast and Furious

All of these lotteries have quickly approaching deadlines. Please apply promptly and completely.

And, for the last time, NYC Housing Connect is the only way to view the complete selection of properties currently available.

A New Apartment for Christmas!
