Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Psalm 36:5 NKJV
For he [the LORD] has not despised or scorned
the suffering of the afflicted one;
he [the LORD] has not hidden his [the LORD’s] face from him
but has listened to his cry for help. Psalm 22:24 NIV, clarification mine
Do you have a need?
One of the things I love about God is that He is not stingy, cheap, or frugal.
No.
The LORD abundantly, freely, bountifully, extravagantly gives and gives and gives mercy again and again and again.
For example, after Jesus’s resurrection, abundant supply was one of the identifying marks that the unknown person doing “Jesus-like” things, indeed, was the Lord (John 21: 4-7) .
Every morning – todos los dias – we should expect a fresh mercy delivery! O praise God!!
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV (emphasis mine)
And we need fresh mercy daily don’t we?

Today I spoke with a mom who was distraught after an understandable and unfortunate lapse in her son’s treatment.
She blamed herself and thought of several ways in which the situation could have had a more desired outcome had she been more attentive to her intuition.
My colleague and I listened. We also counseled mercy and forgiveness for herself.
This mom – stretched thin and running on E emotionally – loves her son but does not have all the answers.
Can you relate?
As I prayed the other day, the phrase, “His mercy reaches to the clouds,” came to mind. However, that’s not quite what the Bible says.

The LORD is literally mercy “full” or full of mercy.
The psalmist in his attempt to capture this aspect of God’s character notes God’s mercy as located “in the heavens” while His faithfulness reaches “to the clouds.”
This sounds like boundless, borderless mercy and measureless faithfulness from our good heavenly Father toward me and you, dearest daughter, favored son of the LORD.
Mercy. Compassion. Faithful. Steadfast Love. This is God’s settled demeanor toward His children.
For example, let’s quickly consider the mercy that our LORD Jesus freely and faithfully pours out for anyone who would receive it.
Yes, God’s mercy and faithfulness reaches to the heavens!

AND, thankfully, yes, the LORD’s mercies also reaches to the clouds in my mind and life:
- He chases away my sadness;
- He encourages me to keep believing that He is working on my behalf;
- God the Holy Spirit helps me in all my weaknesses (and I have MANY!);
- My God is transforming me by renewing my mind as I read the scriptures, pray the scriptures and meditate on Christ Jesus;
- And so much more!
His mercy reaches to the clouds in my finances as helps me to meet my obligations without embarrassment and my goals with confidence and sustains me through all of the cash droughts.
God’s mercy reaches to the clouds at my workplace. He allows me to function there faithfully and well under great pressure and duress.
Suffering? Cry out to God for his abundant mercy!
Sinning? Cry out to God for his abundant mercy!
Whatever the trouble, trial, or distress; whatever the sadness, sickness, stalemate; whatever the harm or harshness you face today, God has mercy, no, ABUNDANT mercy for you.
He is your heavenly Father. He who loves His children will not fail you.

Be refreshed and encouraged and uplifted in the presence of the Lord!

Romans 8:38-39 NIV
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
